We live by those words. And since 1949, Westmark Construction has stayed true to building not only the best structures, but forming long-standing relationships with our clients.
At Westmark, we strive to achieve the highest level of quality and service in each project we undertake. That's Westmark—unlike any other.
We value people
At Westmark, each team member's input is encouraged and respected which leads to the success we achieve as a company. All employees, regardless of their position are treated with respect. In return, we ask our employees to conduct themselves in an honest, ethical, and friendly manner; deal with change in a positive way; and respect the community we work and live in.
We value quality
Each project brings it own set of challenges. We work together to understand and meet the expectations of our customers. We must strive to achieve the highest level of quality on every project we undertake no matter what size and then work to improve our quality for the next project. Our goal is to complete the project as efficiently as possible without compromising quality.
We have a commitment to complete all projects no matter what the size. Problems are solved through innovation, not inactivity.
We value integrity
As individuals and as a company, we conduct ourselves with integrity. We are honest with our clients, subcontractors, and our employees. We deliver solutions by assembling the best team of subcontractors and employees for each project.
Our History
Glenn Johnson,
Westmark Founder
Pride of work
Ever since Westmark Construction founder Glenn Johnson drove his first nail as a cabinetmaker for the railroad after WWII until the time of his retirement, he has always valued the importance of doing high quality work.
Glenn served in the Air Corps as
a radio mechanic overseas in China and other nearby territories.
Continuous business since 1949
After the war, and three years with the railroad, Glenn began building residential homes primarily in Lakewood and Tacoma. He started commercial construction shortly afterward. It was then that Westmark established themselves as a reliable and quality Tacoma-based construction firm.
Over 60 years later, it is superior quality, along with integrity and professional service that still defines Westmark.
Today, Westmark Construction is led by Glenn's son, Ward Johnson (read bio), who holds the same ideals and principles.
With Ward at the helm, Glenn primarily enjoys showing and working with his champion Arabian horses. He also served as Chairman for the National Arabian Show Commission for several years until retirement.
The construction industry has changed since the founding of Westmark, but one thing that hasn't is the ethical way in which we run our business. Even though Glenn is retired, he still makes his rounds at the office ensuring everything is on the up and up.
As in Westmark's beginnings, the same holds true today as Glenn puts it, "At the end of the day, you can go home and know that you did a good job." We'll see to it.
